With Easter fast approaching we have done lots of activities and arts and crafts at Little Kings & Queens Nursery this week.

The Easter Bonnet Parade

Our Easter Bonnet Parade for the Ruby & Emerald Room was a great success, the children had so much fun and all the parents worked so hard on the Bonnets, we were very impressed with them all! The winners were: In 1st place Azyah, 2nd place Ernie and 3rd place Mila. Well done to all our children and parents.

Gloop

The Ruby Room enjoyed some sensory fun with gloop.Sensory play encourages children to manipulate materials, building up their fine motor skills and co-ordination. This type of play uses all 5 senses, but the sense of touch is often the most frequent; children process information through their senses and learn through exploring these.

Easter Crafts

Some more Easter crafts in the Diamond & Ruby Rooms this week. Doing these types of activities are not only fun for children but help develop Fine motor skills; when you pick up tiny objects, hold a fork or spoon, or manipulate a pen or pencil to draw, you are employing fine motor skills. Arts & crafts help with important visual processing abilities;
You notice patterns, colours and physical improbabilities without thinking twice. That is because when you worked on crafts and your artistic efforts were promoted as a child, you were improving your visual processing skills. This cognitive development is very important in a child’s early years.

Baking in the Emerald Room

Baking with children provides practical experience with many essential skills such as reading, following directions, and measuring. Getting involved in baking helps your child to develop fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, and even early concepts of math and science. not forgetting the most important part, if you are good you might get a lick of the spoon at the end! LOL

Imaginative Play

Some lovely imaginative boat play in the baby room today. Imaginative play provides opportunities for children to identify with the adult world. It helps develop social skills: practising negotiation skills, turn taking and sharing. It also helps in emotional development: Understanding and expressing their feelings through the re-enactment of certain experiences.

Special guest in the Emerald Room

The Emerald Room had the opportunity to have a nurse come and speak to them all about her job. She showed them how to put bandages on, how to use the oxygen masks and why, what happens if you break a bone, how to use syringes and so much more. The children could not get enough and even had the chance to try the equipment for themselves. The emerald room have been learning about the human body so it was a great to have a real nurse in the room to ask any questions.
