We are all so excited here at Little Kings and Queens Nursery because it is nearly Christmas, to get the children into the Christmas spirit we have been doing all kinds of Christmas activities, take a look:

  • Jigsaws with the babies

This is a great activity that develops hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills and builds visual-perceptual skills. It also develops attention, concentration and thinking skills such as recognising, remembering, matching, sorting and problem solving. It can Assists language skills as the children listen and follow instructions and talk about what they are doing.

  •  Nursery rhymes and finger puppets

The children got to enjoy some nursery rhymes with the finger puppets which is really fun for them. There are also social benefits to singing nursery rhymes, Nursery rhymes are often sung as a group activity, so your baby or child begins to feel part of a social circle that enjoys singing or reciting together. This will help your child connect to other children.

  • Making it snow in the Pre-School Room

We were fed up waiting for the snow to come so we decided to make it snow in the nursery today, all in the name of Christmas!! The children couldn’t get enough of it, we even let them take some home in the hair, their bows, their clothes!!!

  • Xmas Colouring with the babies

Not only is this a way for the little ones to express themselves and explore different media but this simple and fun activity can help greatly in the development of your children.

  • Feeling The Love

Love is certainly in the air today in the baby room, lots of group hugs going around, we just love how much the children get on and jumped at the chance to capture all the love in the room today.

  • Reindeer food

The children were getting ready for Santa coming to their houses and have been making reindeer food for Xmas eve.

  • Glitter Play-doh

It was Glitter play-doh time for the children today, squishing, squashing and rolling with lots of sparkle as it is nearly Christmas after all! Using play dough develops children’s muscles and encourages pre-writing and other skills such as cutting with scissors, using tweezers and holding a pencil. Lets not forget it is so much fun too!

  • Snow Flakes

The children enjoyed some lovely crisp air in the garden today whilst it was snowing, it’s amazing how a couple of snowflakes can put such big smiles on their little faces!!

  • Weekly Yoga

The children enjoyed their weekly yoga class with some sensory lights, the little ones just love this class and it’s a bonus that is has so many benefits for them, especially when it’s done every week.

  • Our Mischievous Elves

Buddy & Tinsel have been getting up to all kinds of mischief this week in the nursery, you can see from the pictures above where we have found them each morning.

  • Sensory time for the babies

  • Some glittery sensory play for the babies

Sensory play is any activity that stimulates and develops your child’s sense of touch, smell, taste, sight or hearing. Whether they’re flexing their fingers or sampling edible fingerprint sensory play is an important part of your child’s development.
