We have had so much to fit in this week at Little Kings & Queens nursery due to it being ‘Science Week’, the rooms have had lots of experiments going on, as well as doing lots of activities for St Patrick’s day Friday and not forgetting its nearly Easter! Its safe to say we haven’t had a minute to spare.
Water Play
Water Play gives many opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills across age ranges. Children will increase their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination through actions like pouring, squirting, scrubbing, stirring and squeezing!
Volcano & Skittle Experiments
In honor of Science week the Ruby & Emerald room had lots of experiments going on! They started with some volcano fun and then tried the skittles experiment with colour run, both were a big success.
Water to Ice
For ‘Science Week’ the diamond room did some experiments turning water to ice and mixing some sensory play in the mix too! It’s very beneficial for young children to be introduced to science, It’s high interest and they’re already exploring the world around them; so why not capitalize on that? It’s easy to add in language building activities like discussions, conversations, and new words. This helps your little one with reading and writing later on, but in the short term, it helps our toddlers and preschoolers with their conversation skills, learning and using new words, and understand the world around them.
Easter Crafts
Lots of Easter arts and crafts in the Ruby & Emerald Room this week. This is a great chance for the children to get creative and learn about Easter!
Maths Corner
The Ruby Room were learning numbers and counting in the maths corner this week. It is a fun activity that develops their numeracy and maths skills.
Sensory Foam Play
Some messy sensory play in the Ruby & Emerald Room. It was raining foam in the Ruby room! Shaving cream is a great sensory exploration and provides endless opportunities for children to play and discover.
Imaginative Play at its best!
When children are involved in imaginative play they are experimenting with decision making on how to behave and are also practising their social skills. Children learn from experience: from what happens around them, from what they see, hear, smell, taste and touch. To absorb those experiences and make sense of the world, they need to be engaged in imaginary play.
Baking in the Diamond Room
Cooking is a great sensory experience for children of all ages, even babies!
Sensory Room
The Ruby Room had some relaxing fun in the sensory room- Sensory rooms are a great place for children to escape to and unwind from the busy nursery room. Instilling a calm and tranquil space enables children to relax and let their exploratory minds evolve.
Jelly Sensory Play
Some lovely sensory play with Jelly in the diamond room! This activity is completely edible and keeps the little ones entertained.
Outside fun for the Ruby & Emerald Rooms
There are numerous health benefits to outdoor play; it’s great for teaching children to be active outside, it promotes social skills, it can even increase attention spans just by having a 15 minute play away from the class room and not forgetting it offers a tremendous amount of fun
Yoga
Another week of Baby & Pre-school Yoga. The children have so much fun in this class! It is a bonus that it is so beneficial to their health and development.
Dance
Another great week of dance with our older children, its gives them the opportunity to express themselves in a fun enviroment.
Birthdays
We celebrated so many birthdays last week in the nursery, there was cake everywhere!
