It has been an extra fun week this week at Little Kings & Queens Nursery as we turned 2 years old. We don’t know where the time has gone, we have said good bye to so many children who have moved on to school and welcomed lots of new faces over the last two years; we are excited to see what the next two years bring! Take a look at how we celebrated our birthday.
Making Dough
The little ones rolled their sleeves up and got busy making dough, this is a great activity for developing those fine motor skills and strengthening muscle tone in little hands.
Room on the broom
The Emerald Room have been reading ‘Room on the Broom’ so for a fun activity they made it look like they were blowing fire like the dragon in the book. How brilliant did they do. The Ruby room have also been reading ‘Room on the Broom’.They have been acting out all the characters in the book and doing art activities too.
Yoga & Mindfulness
Our weekly Yoga and mindfulness class with all the rooms, a great chance for the children to relax and calm their minds. A five or ten-minute daily mindfulness practice can help children reduce stress and anxiety, increase concentration and engagement, sleep better, improve social skills, and develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Counting Bears
The Ruby Room have been using the colourful counting bears, these little bears are great for learning colour names, colour sorting and matching and also for developing fine motor skills.
Outdoor Fun
The little ones had fun in the garden this week, a chance for them to stretch their legs and get some fresh air!
Sandwich Making
The Ruby Room made their own sandwiches this week. Developing life skills for children is a great way to encourage independence, practise fine motor skills, and foster-confidence. The children enjoyed feeling the success of making their own snacks.
Painting
The Babies had some messy fun painting and getting creative.
Calendar & forecast
The Emerald Room have been learning about the days of the week and the different weather with their new calendar. Using interactive calendars for pre schoolers is the best way to incorporate calendar time into a daily lesson. Having a a calendar set up for toddlers to engage and play with on their own or with peers can be extremely beneficial in helping them to recognise and become familiar with the use of a calendar for day to day living.
Dinosaurs & Vegetables
The little ones had some sensory fun with the dinosaurs and lots of different vegetables, a sneaky way to introduce new tastes in a fun setting.
Pink Flamingo
The children in the Emerald Room managed to tame a pink flamingo last week before setting it free!
The Three Little Pigs
The Ruby Room used puppets to tell the story of ‘the three little pigs’. Using puppets stimulates their imaginations and creativity. They help with emotional development, improves motor skills when they use their little fingers to move the puppets and they are great for boosting confidence in speaking especially with children who are shy.
Birthdays at the nursery
We celebrated Isla’s 3rd Birthday & Hopes 1st birthdays this week at the nursery.
Little Kings & Queens 2nd Birthday
We celebrated Little Kings & Queens 2nd Birthday in style this week, the children had so much fun on the party bus; followed by hot dogs, popcorn, waffles and milkshakes! It was a brilliant day for everyone involved. A big thank you for all our lovely presents. We would also like to thank all our parents for letting us look after your children, past and present. xxxx
